Since September 2020, I’ve received several emails from users reporting that Tab Muter doesn’t work properly on Google Meet. Most users say that Tab Muter mutes all tabs at once or doesn’t work at all, or that one tab starts controlling audio from all tabs at once. One user has experienced the same problem on Microsoft Teams.
This is a frustrating bug for you, and also for me: I don’t know what’s causing it, and I have no way to tell what’s going wrong! By design, Tab Muter doesn’t send any information about your usage anywhere else, but this also means that when I can’t reproduce a problem on my own computer, it’s difficult to know how to fix it.
If you are experiencing this issue, please email me: email@example.com
At the moment I don’t know of any other tab-muting extension that works on Google Meet tabs. If you find one, please let me know!
I've opened an issue on the Chromium bug tracker, asking the developers to look into what's causing this problem. If you have a Google account, you can star it to receive an email whenever there’s an update. Please email me rather than adding new comments, though!
Rest assured that if and when I find out what’s causing this bug, I’ll fix it as soon as I can.
However, I have a lot of other demands on my time. If you find Tab Muter useful or you’d like to encourage me to spend more time making it better in the future, consider buying me a coffee or sponsoring me on GitHub Sponsors.
